Do you feel that you have been walking on a plateau for some time? Do you feel disconnected and tired? Do you feel you are not doing enough? After a bit you are thinking to give up. But hey, look behind you! Can you look at the view of your accomplishments? The land you walked and climbed and fell and crawled? This is all you growing and flourishing! How easy is to loose sight of what we have achieved so far and focused on where we “ought to be”, because we forget that everything is part of our process. We forget that we are walking on our and only our path.
Process is the unfolding of life. One might say that it is the path we are on in life, the journey to arrive to our “Ithaca”, the experience of being alive. This includes the thoughts, the feelings, the doings (events or phenomenon), and everything that is happening in between the relationships we have with others.
Having awareness of being on it though, is a different thing. With awareness on our side, is the big step to regain the relationship with ourselves, our body, our thoughts, our desires. When we disconnect our body from our cognitive processing, we might experience feelings of confusion or “feeling stuck”, we loose side of our process/path. With awareness we can discover what is in the process and what we are processing.
Our process mirrors what is out in nature.

Currently, the pace of life in the modern world is relatively fast, which limits us from staying with ourselves and feel, think, or reflect on our needs and wants. Even if this might happen at times, we forget to include our body into the equitation. Even though within our bodies we hold the majority of information and experience, we learn to ignore it. Cognitive processing is just a small part of the whole process.
Nonetheless, we can embrace a more mindful/aware way of living. We can shift some of our daily habits with just adding some sprinkles of awareness in them. For example, activities such as having more mindful meals, adding meditation to our everyday life, remembering to breath, allowing some time to relax and re-connect with ourselves, adding some exercise on our schedule (yoga is a very mindful one), connecting with nature, can bring immediate and temporary results to our life. Nevertheless, for more long-term results, psychotherapy can support us on that. With self-exploration, we bring awareness to our paths, to our desires and eventually discovering once again our authentic self.
Back to where we started. Trust the process, means trust your path. Even though things might feel hard, or stuck, or very easy, are all part of this uneven, muddy, spiral (-ish) process. Things would move on, because process moves on constantly. If you are still doubting whether this is something you want to do, I invite you to ask yourself “do I want to get to know myself better? Do I want to find my real desires and path in this life?” If the answer is yes then what do you wait for! All aboard!
